InterTech were contacted by Optomen TV to help with a project in Cleethorpes that was suffering from the store being the victim of repeat store theft. InterTech were asked to come up with ideas to help reduce the problem that shoplifting was having on the business. After visiting the store they carried out a detailed survey to findout what ideas could be implemented in what was a very packed store with multiple shelving and fixtures creating an ideal environment for pontential shoplifter to expliot. After the survey was completed they worked on a store layout focusing on improving the existing layout. When this was difficult to implement because of the volume of merchadise on display. They created and manufactured some interactive ceiling mirrors that took no additional space up and acted as a very good visual deterant. These modules were fitted over the existing shelving fixtures. They featured movement sensors to trigger red warning ligths to help highlight to a potential shoplifter that these reflective bulkheads were monitoring customers movements via a CCTV system.

In this brand new series serving police officer Will Davies and an undercover reformed ex-shop lifter team up to become The Store Detectives. Together they will expose how exactly professional shop lifters get away with what they do. At the same time they’ll visit stores that have suffered at the hands of thieves, helping the owners and managers devise ways of beating even the most devious and inventive crooks. Travelling around the UK, the Store Detectives will teach hopelessly vulnerable businesses how to defend themselves against people who are determined to steal. The duo will let us in on all the tricks of their trade – how they spot, thwart and finally trap shoplifters.
